Hon’ble Agriculture Principal Secretary Inspects Sabour Makhana Harvesting Machine at BPSAC, Purnea
The successful inspection of the “Sabour Makhana Harvesting Machine” was conducted on 10 January 2026 at Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College, Purnea, in the esteemed presence of Shri Narmadeshwar Lal, Hon’ble Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar. His visit reflected the Government of Bihar’s sustained commitment towards promoting mechanization and technological advancement in makhana cultivation. During the programme, the Hon’ble Principal Secretary interacted with scientists, faculty, staff, and students, and emphasized the importance of the makhana harvesting machine in reducing drudgery, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the income of farmers engaged in makhana production. On this occasion, he also inaugurated the Navagraha Vatika, symbolizing the harmonious integration of traditional knowledge systems with contemporary agricultural education. Vice Chancellor, BAU, Sabour highlighted the pioneering role of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, in elevating makhana to national and global prominence and appreciated the scientific team for developing this farmer-centric innovation which is expected to benefit nearly five lakh makhana growers across the state.
